SEO Optimization
When we search for information about SEO, we immediately find that search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines through organic results. This process involves optimizing the HTML code, structure and text of a website. In fact, the further and more frequently a website appears in search engine results, the more visitors are likely to visit it. This is how a website gets a presence on the Internet. Optimization can include various search aspects such as search in a specific field or region, as well as image, video or news searches.
Indexing
To begin with, a website should be registered in as many search engines as possible, both Bulgarian and international. The biggest search engines so far are Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yandex. In general, even if no registration is done, the site will still be found, but for faster indexing it is advisable to do the registration.
Once the site is already “seen” by the search engines its indexing begins. This is a process in which special software begins to crawl the site and the links in it and adds them to the search engine database. Databases are a kind of libraries in which search engines look for the most relevant answers and return them as results for a given search. It is worth noting that when you search for something, the search engine returns the answer from its database, rather than searching for a particular site.
Optimization and Visibility Improvement
There are many different methods to increase the visibility of a web page in search results. Cross-linking to the most important pages on the same site, besides making it easier for visitors, can also improve its visibility. Writing useful content that includes a commonly searched keyword phrase so that it relates to a wide range of search queries will also potentially increase traffic. Updating information frequently can get search robots to return more often, adding further weight to the site. Adding relevant titles as well as keywords in the web page tags can improve the site’s standing in the search engine database. Overall, here are a few recommendations to improve your site’s visibility:
- Page Title and Description – The first thing that search engines look at and display is the page title and description, to match the search phrases as closely as possible. Of course, if the content of the page does not match, the title or description, then the user will quickly leave the page and a negative rating will be awarded, so it is good to think carefully about the title and description of the page;
- Keyword or phrase density – The complex algorithms of modern search engines allow for semantic analysis of text to filter out possible spam – when a keyword or phrase occurs too frequently on the page;
- Related words – Google search increasingly emphasizes the overall content of the text and tries to index pages semantically, i.e. by meaning. The presence of so-called related words in the text has a strong influence. For example, a page about Bulgarian souvenirs is good to include information about Bulgaria, about Bulgarian traditions, famous ethnographic sites, etc.;
- Citation index of the site or quantity and quality of resources with a hyperlink to the site – Many search engines do not take into account the mutual links between sites, so it is preferred that hyperlinks be from thematically related sites;
- User behavior data – A very important measure of the quality of a site is how satisfied users are with the site. There are measures of user satisfaction that are used by search engines. The most clearly understood metrics are time spent on the site, number of pages viewed, more than one visit to the site, grammatically and spellingly correct text.
Analyses
A closer look reveals that some of the software applications that are coming out on the market include methods of collecting data about users and about certain pages. This information is used to create algorithms that report on the popularity of pages (how users find and use a page) and even what percentage of them subsequently become eventual customers (conversion). A well-known program of this type is Google Analytics, a powerful tool for webmasters to analyze the traffic of a website, but it also provides significant information to Google.
